Another Service for Our Manufacturers from TEBAR: Determination of Behaviour under External Fire Exposure (TS EN 13501 - 5), Available Only at TEBAR
With its investments in testing the behaviour of roof coverings under external fire exposure, TEBAR A.Ş. achieved another first in Türkiye. Following written approval from the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement, the test apparatus was established with the participation of experts from abroad. It can classify the behaviour of roof coverings under 'burning brands' and 'wind exposure' as BROOF(t2) or FROOF(t2). The apparatus is used to assess flame spread on the external surface of the roof covering and within the roof elements.
In this method, the test specimen is fixed to the test plane at a roof pitch of 30° to the horizontal. A special burning wooden crib is placed on it, and fans expose the system to forced air flow at specified speeds. Classification is carried out by measuring the damaged length of the test specimens after specified periods of exposure to the resulting fire and wind. Following tests at wind speeds of 2m/s and 4m/s, the product is classified as BROOF(t2) if the mean damaged specimen length of the roof covering and supporting substrate is ≤ 0,550 m and the maximum damaged specimen length is ≤0,800 m. Products that do not meet these conditions are classified as FROOF(t2).
